Breakfast is arguably the most important meal of the day. If you have a good breakfast then you’re setting yourself up properly for the rest of the day – if you’re not hungry when you get to work, then chances are, you’re less likely to buy snacks and eat food that isn’t good for you throughout the morning. After eating a decent meal first thing in the day, it’s considerably more easy to hold on until lunch! Here are some tips about the best meals to have first thing in the day…

 Oatmeal

If you’re usually a big fan of cereals, then make your mornings a little bit healthier by plumping for oatmeal instead. Admittedly it takes a little longer to make, but it’s definitely better for you. It contains considerably less sugar, meaning you’re a lot less likely to have a sugar high first thing and then crash out mid morning. You might remember oatmeal from your childhood as being bland and not particularly delicious, but luckily as an adult you can add whatever you want to it! Make it even more healthy with a scattering of raspberries, blueberries, blackberries and a small handful of chia seeds, which are a superfood. Alternatively you could make it savory by adding a poached egg.

Smoothies

You might think that a smoothie doesn’t count as a proper breakfast – but you’d definitely be wrong. If you’re the sort of person who doesn’t like to get out of bed early then a smoothie is the perfect breakfast - if you don’t have a blender yet, definitely visit this website here to find out more. Prepare it the evening before and put it in the fridge overnight and in the morning you’re good to go. You could even take it to work to drink it more slowly at your desk. First of all add a liquid base like almond milk or orange juice. Then it’s time for the fruit – you can add anything you like! A particularly popular combination is strawberry and banana, but peach and mango also make for delicious morning treats.

Eggs

Containing a lot of protein, eggs are a fantastic way to start your day – not least because they’re incredibly versatile! Scramble them, poach them, fry them – no matter what you like the most, they’re easy to make. If you want to scramble your eggs, make them a little more interesting by chopping up tomatoes and peppers and adding them in, or eating them on toast alongside smoked salmon for a decadent Hollywood style breakfast that’s also extremely healthy.

Toast

Go for wholewheat toast and you’ll be feeling good all day. It’s important to add a nutritional topping – mash up half a ripe avocado and add a dash of citrus juice and some chilli and you’ll have a healthy and delicious breakfast. Mashed bananas are also popular and taste incredible, especially if you’ve put a layer of peanut butter underneath the bananas. Peanut butter and avocado may contain a lot of fat, but it’s the good kind of fat, and morning is a great time to consume it. It’ll give you lasting energy for the morning and kick start your morning with a flourish.
