Last year a very talented friend of mine had her darling baby. She's a very dear friend with whom I've worked with in the past and her (also) very talented husband has helped me with some photography tips. I always make blankets for the new babies in my family and friends and this time there was no exemption. I asked her what colors she prefered and she said grey, mustard and mint. That kind of remided me of the colden fall leaves in the grey October sky so thus the name: October sky, baby blanket crochet pattern. Also, it keeps up with my impromptu baby blanket naming scheme, since the previous one was the Blue skies crochet baby blanket pattern!

I love to crochet blankets with the corner to corner technique for various reasons. I love the fact that I can design it on my own and that's it seems really fast to make! I also love the feedback I get when I give one these away!

The C2C techique is very easy to handle even if you are newbie in crochet. However if you are new to it I would suggest to start with something easy, without too many color changes because keeping track of your yarn can be challenging.

That's why I love the diagonal stripes so much! They are pretty, easy to handle and you can keep weaving in the edges to a minimal! I learned C2C crochet when I made the first blanket for my daughter while still pregnant with her. It's the wonderful owl blanket from repeatcrafterme. We still adore this blanket and it was just the first of many C2C projects I've made since then!

Pattern

I didn't write the whole pattern just the first few lines so that you know how to start and change colors. I urge you to use YouTube videos if you are a beginner in C2C so that you will understand it best. It really is a very easy stitch to do.

I then did a super easy granny square border with three of the colors: one round of mustard yellow, one round of mint and one last round of dark grey. You can also add some tassels or pom pom with your left over yarn!
